PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man accused of orchestrating an odometer rollback scheme will spend at least 15 months behind bars, according to Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha.
Pablo Beato, 53, pleaded no contest last week to conspiracy to tamper with odometers, conspiracy to obtain money under false pretenses and conspiracy to commit forgery.
Beato was sentenced Monday to 15 years with 15 months to serve at the ACI, followed by 15 years of probation. He was also ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution over the course of 15 years.
The investigation began back in early 2020, when the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles received numerous complaints regarding forged certificates of title.
