The estate of a Tempe High math teacher who died last December in a wrong-way crash faults the City of Mesa for the accident and wants $10 million to settle.
The notice of claim was filed June 3 in which the city has 60 days to respond.
“We can’t provide information given that the case is in active litigation,” spokeswoman Ana Pereira said.
Attorney Jessica Zink also declined to comment on the claim she filed for the Estate of Nasser Khalil Chidiac, a Mesa resident. Naji Chidiac, the victim’s brother, is the personal representative of the estate.
Chidiac, 50, was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra east on SR 202 near Milepost 22.6 when he collided with Carlos Roman, then 23 of San Tan Valley, who was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu the wrong way. It was 10:50 at night Dec. 7.
