NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- A new poll shows the Democratic nominee has an eight-point lead in the race to be New Jersey's next Governor-- and President Trump's policies may be a drag on the Republican nominee.

The poll from Fairleigh Dickinson University shows Democratic Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill at 45%. Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli is at 37%. 16% of voters remain undecided.

The race for New Jersey Governor in the year after a Presidential election is often seen as an important test for the President-- in this case, President Donald Trump. Fairleigh Dickinson had some revealing insights into how national issues are impacting Trump's endorsed candidate, Ciattarelli.
