SOUTH OZONE PARK, Queens (PIX11) – The man accused of setting a dog on fire in Queens last week has been arrested, according to the NYPD.
Police said Isaiah K. Gurley was taken into custody on Monday and charged with reckless endangerment, aggravated cruelty to animals, torturing/injuring/not feeding an animal and arson with the intent to damage property.
Gurley was allegedly seen dragging a motionless dog around 4:45 a.m. last Thursday near 128th Street and 116th Avenue, according to the NYPD. Police said he’s then accused of pouring accelerant on the animal and setting it alight.
The NYPD is conducting a necropsy on the dog, according to the ASPCA. New York City Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa led a search for the suspect on Monday.
