MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WPIX) – Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old Las Vegas man, has been identified by the New York Police Department as the shooter who killed four people inside a Manhattan skyscraper Monday.
Tamura left his home on Saturday for a three-day cross-country journey, according to NYPD Commissioner Tisch. Police said he first stopped in Colorado before heading to Nebraska and Iowa.
Tamura arrived in Columbia, N.J., around 4:30 p.m. Monday before making his way to Midtown, according to authorities. Sources said the 2011 BMW 3 Series he was driving had Nevada license plates and an expired registration.
Police said he shot and killed four people, including NYPD Officer Didarul Islam. He later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the offices of Rudin Management, one of New York
