SHREVEPORT, La. - Shreveport police have arrested one of the two men who were shot Wednesday morning in Shreveport's west Cedar Grove neighborhood.

The shooting was reported in the 500 block of W. 77th near Bernstein about 6:30 a.m.

Police say William Mayfield and another man were arguing in the street when they started shooting at each other. The KTBS 3 News crew on the scene counted more than a dozen shell casings on the ground.

Mayfield was shot in the lower leg, while the other man had a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Officers determined Mayfield went to the other man's house and opened fire. The victim returned fire in self-defense, resulting in both being injured.
