FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) -- Hundreds of new high-tech jobs are coming to western Maryland.
Rockville-based X-Energy is helping to meet the worldwide demand for nuclear power in a venture backed by Gov. Wes Moore and the state commerce department.
Two million dollars in state financing will help the Montgomery County-based high-tech firm expand north on the I-270 corridor.
"We found this area to be ripe with high-tech talent, offering a uniquely qualified workforce," As X-Energy vice president Robert McEntyre said.
Christina Walrond is the director of state government relations for X-Energy.
"States across the nation are facing the need to expand their energy capacity," Walrond said.
