MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Police said they were on the scene of a "serious collision" in Gaithersburg on Saturday that injured two people.

One of them appeared to be critically hurt.

The Montgomery County Department of Police posted about the crash near Spectrum Avenue and N. Frederick Avenue on the X platform. The post said officers received word of the collision shortly before 7:15 a.m.

The post noted that one person had injuries that were considered life-threatening. A second person was hurt, but that person's injuries were not described as life-threatening.

A follow-up post at 8 a.m. said that southbound N. Frederick Avenue was closed at Professional Drive. Police asked drivers to avoid the area and to expect significant delays.
