CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) Charleston Police say the teen curfew on the peninsula has been a success, with very few citations issued since it went into effect earlier this summer.

After incidents of crime involving minors, the City of Charleston enacted a teen curfew, prohibiting anyone 17 under from the central business district after 9 pm and they report so far it has been a success.

"It's working," said Sgt. Christopher Stinson, with the Charleston Police. "Parents are not dropping their kids off on king street on these late-night hours where kids don’t belong."

There has only been one citation so far that was a minor committing another crime. For other juveniles out past 9 p.m., in the central business district, Charleston police have been taking the education approach.
