Earlier this week, the city unveiled its plan to transform the former airport in Flushing, Queens, by building 3,000 new homes.
Officials say the project would generate an estimated $3.2 billion in economic activity over the next three decades, as well as create more than 1,300 union construction jobs and 530 permanent jobs.
It comes as Mayor Eric Adams continues to tout the success of the “City of Yes” housing proposal passed last year, which changed zoning rules to allow for more housing projects to be approved.
Gary Labarbera, president of the Building and Construction Trades Council, joined “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss the proposal.
