Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. on Thursday announced that he is running for reelection.
In a campaign announcement, he said he is running for reelection because he believes Cameron County’s best days are still ahead.
“Since I took office, we’ve made tremendous progress … and I’m committed to ensuring we keep moving forward together,” Treviño said.
The county judge said his record of public service and strategic planning has thrust the region into one of the most promising in Texas.
Treviño said property tax rates have decreased for two consecutive years under his leadership and that his highest priority in 2026 would be to again reduce the property tax rate.
The county judge also claimed flood-prone communities are safer than ever, citing drainage improvements in the northwest
