PRESIDENT Donald Trump has ordered that two nuclear submarines be positioned near Russia following stern threats from Vladimir Putin's comrade.
The move by the commander-in-chief comes after former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned the United States of Moscow's nuclear arsenal.
The two superpowers have been engaging in a war of words after Medvedev, who is the deputy chair of Russia's Security Council, knocked Trump for "playing the ultimatum game" in the White House's efforts to end the war in Ukraine .
Trump initial gave Putin a 50-day deadline to end the conflict before suddenly shortening it to 10 days from July 29 due to a lack of progress on Moscow's behalf.
