WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A Crittenden County judge has approved the testing of new DNA evidence in the decades-long case of the West Memphis Three.
In a court document released on Friday, officials said that they would be "implementing the additional testing that [Damien Echols] seeks on a joint consensual basis."
The court order states that all costs associated with the testing will be paid for by petitioning parties and lists Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jason Baldwin, and the Innocence Project as parties that will have access to the labs and technicians that are testing the DNA as well as to the results of the testing.
As for what exactly will be tested, the document lists several hairs that were found on various articles such as pants, body parts, and tree stumps.
