CASEYVILLE, Ill. - A Caseyville woman says her home life is under attack by an abandoned property that’s owned by the village itself.

Charmene Chavis said it’s such a problem she can sometimes smell it.

“Very foul,” she said about the property right next door.

Parcel records confirm it’s owned by the Village of Caseyville.

“I can’t help but to see it when I walk out the door,” Chavis said.

She says it also attracts unwelcome visitors, saying, “I saw some squatters.”

However, Chavis says it does not attract the same attention from the village. She says it’s remained untouched for seven years, and vines are now connecting the trailer to the trees. Chavis says she even mows over there.
