ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The City of St. Charles has issued a citywide boil water advisory, effective immediately for all residents and businesses as of Thursday afternoon.

The advisory is due to a depressurization event in the city's water distribution system. The advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution.

A critical water interconnection pipeline, co-owned by the City of St. Charles and the City of St. Peters, was struck and damaged by a private contractor. This incident has caused a significant loss of pressure in the pipeline.

Crews with St. Charles and St. Peters, along with an emergency contractor, have been requested to the site to begin immediate repairs on the damaged pipeline.
