PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating after a teenager claimed he was attacked in Providence Friday.
Anthony Vega, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, told 12 News officers were called to the intersection of Smith Street and Chalkstone Avenue to investigate a reported stabbing.
The victim, who Vega identified as a 17-year-old boy, suffered "defensive lacerations to both hands after being attacked by unknown suspects, possibly armed with a machete."
The boy's injuries are not considered life-threatening and it's unclear if anyone is in custody at this time.
