CORONA, Queens (PIX11) -- An on-duty NYPD officer was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Queens early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The officer was hit in the area of 46th Avenue and 108th Street just after 5 a.m. when he was attempting to stop the driver of a blue four-door sedan, police say.

The driver sped away from the scene, leaving the officer with some minor injuries, officials report.

The officer was taken to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover. Meanwhile, an investigation and search are underway for the driver, authorities say.
