POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. (PIX11) -- New Jersey residents are being warned to stay safe and up to date on vaccines after a new confirmed case of measles in the state, health officials announced on Saturday.

According to the New Jersey Department of Health, a resident of Passaic County appeared to contract measles after traveling internationally. However, health officials say the newest diagnosis is not related to two previous cases reported in Hudson and Ocean Counties.

Residents who visited the Emergency Department at the Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains between 7 p.m. on Thursday and 3:30 a.m. on Friday may have been exposed to measles, health officials say.
