LEWISTON, Maine — Andwell Therapy and Early Learning Services, a preschool that serves children with disabilities, was forced to close its doors Thursday. The school was formerly known as Sandcastle Preschool before Andwell took over operations last year.

Leaders with the organization that runs the school said they were preparing for anticipated impacts to Medicaid funding as a result of the passage of President Donald Trump's sweeping budget bill .

The legislature, also referred to as Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," was originally set to cut $880 billion in Medicaid. However, with recent changes made to the bill, the budget is now on track to cut more than $1 trillion from the federal health care
