The YWCA in New Britain where a 2-year-old boy died on Tuesday will keep its childcare programs closed until late August, according to a post on its Facebook page.

The organization said the programs will remain closed until Aug. 24.

The YWCA has been closed since Wednesday, a day after 2-year-old Saunti Reynolds died.

The child's mother, Shamyra Cooke, said her son choked on a meatball while at daycare.

Cooke said she had dropped her son off at daycare at 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday , then the director called her at 11:47 a.m. saying that he had choked on a meatball and he was OK, but they needed Cooke there.
