FAIRFAX, Va. — A driver is dead after a crash caused their pickup to burst into flames on Interstate 66 in Fairfax County Saturday evening. Virginia State Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and charges are pending.
Robin Lawson, a spokesperson for VSP, said troopers first responded to a crash with injuries around 6 p.m. on I-66 West at Fairfax County Parkway. When troopers got on scene, they found a 1996 Nissan pickup engulfed in flames. in the left shoulder of the express lanes. The driver of the pickup was trapped inside and declared deceased at the crash scene, Lawson said. The driver has since been identified 20-year-old Will R. Hernandez-Villalta of Manassas.
Crash investigators believe the driver of the pickup was broken down in the left lane of the highway whe
