BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A large awning collapsed onto the sidewalk in front of a Brooklyn subway station Sunday morning.

Video posted to social media shows the large overhang that reads “Hotel St. George” crashing to the ground just after 7 a.m. near 100 Henry Street. The awning is 10 feet by 20 feet large, according to City Council Member Lincoln Restler.

No one was injured in the collapse, according to the FDNY. No. 2 and No. 3 trains are not stopping at the Clark St station, according to the MTA.

“This 10 x 20 ft structure giving way could have had catastrophic consequences,” Restler said in a post to Instagram. “I am profoundly relieved no one was hurt.”

Restler said there is a history of poor conditions at the station. He recently brought New York City Transit President Demetrius
