MICHIGAN CITY — A 25-year-old LaPorte man was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital after he was shot early Sunday morning outside of Matey's Bar and Restaurant in Michigan City.

LaPorte County dispatchers received multiple calls of shots fired and fights breaking out at the establishment at approximately 2:34 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located Dante Sellers across the street from the bar in a parking lot entrance with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Franciscan Hospital before transferring to the University of Chicago Hospital for advanced treatment.

Initial investigation reveals Sellers was involved in an argument at the bar. As Sellers was walking to his vehicle parked across the street, he was shot.
