After nearly 15 years at the town’s Heritage District, the Gilbert Farmers Market will be moving to the Chandler Gilbert Community College campus this October because it needed room to grow.
Market operator Dan Koppenhofer said the move to the college’s main campus at Gilbert and Pecos roads also was precipitated by current Heritage District construction and inadquate parking for vendors and customers.
The market has about 120 vendors on a weekly basis, with many others applying for a spot.
At the new location, Koppenhofer said he can allow almost twice that number.
“We've been overbooked for the last five years, and we've been getting a steady influx of applications of almost two per day for those five years,” he said. “So, it's been difficult always saying no. And hopefully all that
