Man and woman arrested after one-year-old girl dies

A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the death of a one-year-old girl. The child was taken to hospital on the Isle of Wight on Friday after being found with injuries but she died on Sunday, according to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.

A force spokesman said: “Police were called at 11.34am on Friday, August 1, to a report of a child being taken to hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, the child, a one-year-old girl, died in hospital on Sunday, August 3.

“A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Newport, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They have been released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries until Nov
