The search for a missing Westbrook man at Messerschmidt Pond is resuming this morning.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) are searching for a 38-year-old man from Westbrook in the pond.

According to DEEP, an unoccupied, overturned canoe was found by another paddler on the banks of Messerschmidt Pond on Friday, Aug. 1. EnCon police responded to the area and said they found a vehicle and personal belongings nearby.

DEEP said they spoke with the man's family members and determined they had not had contact with him since last Tuesday.
