NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was found with an illegal firearm and narcotics during a Monday morning traffic stop on Greenridge Road.
According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers were conducting proactive patrols in the area when they stopped a vehicle for several traffic violations, including a defective rear brake light, failure to maintain lane control, and improper turn signaling.
Police officials said the driver admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle, and a handgun concealed in a luggage bag was found during a probable cause search.
They also found two bags of cannabis flower and three THC-infused chocolate bars.
Gerald Glenn Simmons, 40, of Ridgeville, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm by a convi
