LAWRENCE, Ind. — A 16-year-old is charged with armed robbery after allegedly using a fake handgun to rob a barber to pay back money he owed for a hat.

The robbery happened around 3:30 p.m. on July 28 in Lawrence. The barber was operating out of his home and told police he had been robbed by two people, including Sergio Garcia-Garcia, who had made a haircut appointment.

The barber said the person who came with Garcia-Garcia pulled out a kitchen knife and demanded money. Then, Garcia-Garcia allegedly flashed what appeared to be handgun and told the barber, "don't try anything stupid." The barber handed over about $100 and then decided he didn't think Garcia-Garcia's gun was real.
