FORT MILL, S.C. (WBTV) - A Fort Mill school welcomed students for the first time on Monday, as it opened just in time for the first day of school.

is new to the Fort Mill School District in 2025-2026, bringing in 800 students previously assigned to Sugar Creek, Springfield, and Pleasant Knoll elementary schools.

“Any first day is very special, but this is our very first, first day,” Flint Hill Principal Michelle Gritz said Monday.

Flint Hill was built to alleviate overcrowding in Fort Mill, which is the fastest growing school district in the state. The opening of the new school means there are no more elementary school enrollment freezes in the district.
