Boonville Mayor Charlie Wyatt, 71, faces one count of leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor, court records state.

The charge stems from a May 27 incident in which Wyatt is alleged to have struck a vehicle outside Boonville's Veterans of Foreign Wars post while behind the wheel of a city-owned truck.

An Indiana State Police investigation found that longtime Boonville Mayor Charlie Wyatt crashed a city-owned truck in May and left the scene without contacting police or the motorist he struck, court records show.

The Warrick County Prosecutor's Office referred the case to a special prosecutor, who on Friday moved to charge Wyatt, 71, with one misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of an accident.
