BOONVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — Boonville Mayor Charlie Wyatt has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Court records show one misdemeanor count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident was filed against Mayor Wyatt on Friday.

Officials with the Indiana State Police say it happened on May 14 around 10:43 p.m. at the VFW in Boonville.

ISP says an investigation revealed that Mayor Wyatt was attending an event at the VFW, when he backed out of a parking spot and struck another vehicle.

Wyatt was allegedly driving his city-owned Ford F150 at the time of the incident.

After crashing into the other vehicle, Mayor Wyatt allegedly left the scene without contacting the other driver or police. At the time of the crash, the other driver was still inside his vehicle and was able to obtain a lic
