RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A billboard memorializing the victims of the Oct. 7 attacks against Israel has been defaced.
The billboard is located at I-80 and Vista Blvd and says “They went to a music festival and didn’t come home” and was defaced by a spraypainted message saying Free Palestine.
The billboard was erected by the national nonprofit JewBelong.
“Defacing a message remembering the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust highlights the antisemitism rampant among us,” says JewBelong co-founderArchie Gottesman. “Vandalism is vile and cowardly and is counterproductive to the goal of peace.”
They say a police report has been filed and that the vinyl will be replaced in the coming days.
