RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A woman who killed her ex-boyfriend’s 12-week-old puppy has been sentenced to three years in prison.
Elvira Monroy will be eligible for parole after 15 months after pleading guilty to willful or malicious torture, maiming, and mutilating or killing a dog kept as a pet.
“The killing of this innocent 12-week-old puppy was heartbreaking and inexcusable,” says Chris Hicks, Washoe County District Attorney. “It’s hard to comprehend how anyone could inflict such cruelty on a defenseless animal.
