Police said the crash happened at about 10:04 p.m. Friday on Tantalus Drive north of Kolonahe Place.
The man was reported to be traveling northbound on Tantalus at a high rate of speed in a pickup truck when he lost control, traveled into the southbound lane and collided into a tree.

Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.
“At this time speed appears to be a contributing factor of this collision,” said police. “It is unknown if drugs or alcohol is a contributing factor.”
