PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A Pikeville salon is sending students back to school in style, offering “pay what you can” haircuts to families on Monday.

Hair Loft shared a message with the community Monday morning, inviting families to the salon on Hambley Boulevard to pay what they can for haircuts, instead of charging a base rate for each child.

“Some parents can’t really afford really afford the financial burden of getting their kids’ haircuts,” said Co-Owner Carly Branham. “And we feel like every kid deserves a fresh haircut for back to school.”

The idea came from hair stylist Kasey Lewis, who said the salon usually offers discounts for back-to-school cuts, but she wanted to help families who may not be able to afford the service.
