SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – With temperatures reaching triple digits across the area, you may be at risk for heat-related illnesses or injuries.

Heat stroke and heat exhaustion are two of the most common health events that occur during the summer months. As a result, more people are finding themselves in the emergency room. The most important thing for people to look out for is the signs and symptoms of those illnesses.

Dr. David Janese, an Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine physician with Ochsner LSU Health, says we become more susceptible to these types of illnesses as we age.
