Smoke from the Bear Gulch fire near Lake Cushman continued to drift into Seattle on Monday, with some parts of the city and the Eastside seeing unhealthy air quality.
Seattle’s Madison Park and Madrona neighborhoods had an air quality index above 100 on Monday, making it unhealthy for sensitive groups, according to fire.airnow.gov.
East of Lake Washington, the cities of Bellevue, Redmond and Sammamish all had air quality indexes above 100.
Air quality in most of Seattle remained at a “moderate” level, according to fire.airnow.gov.
Anna Lindeman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle, said the smoke was unhealthy for sensitive groups, such as those who are pregnant, older adults, young children or those with lung diseases.
