On a day that reached 97 degrees in Houston, Texas, a day care owner left five children in a car as she shopped in a grocery store, authorities say.

Domonique Wilson, the 32-year-old operator of My Lil Angels, now faces five charges of child endangerment, according to court records filed in Harris County. Wilson runs the day care from her Houston home.

Police said Wilson took five of her clients’ children and two of her own kids to a Kroger store on Friday, Aug. 1, according to KHOU and KRIV.

She brought her two children inside while leaving the other five inside the car, according to police.

Police said the five victims were found by a witness “in distress, red-faced & crying.”

It’s believed they were inside the hot car for about 40 minutes, KRIV reported.
