TAMPA BAY, Fla. (WBTV) - A former Carolina Panthers starting quarterback is expected to sign with the NFC South division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday, according to a report.

Teddy Bridgewater -- who started 15 games for Carolina in 2020 -- visited the Buccaneers and was expected to then sign with the team, ESPN’s Adam Schefter .

Schefter said Tampa Bay brought in Bridgewater because one of the team’s backup quarterbacks, Michael Pratt, has an injured back and was still on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list as of Aug. 5.

With Bridgewater now expected to join the roster, the Buccaneers’ QB room will consist of Bridgewater, Pratt, Connor Bazelak, Kyle Trask and starter Baker Mayfield. It is likely that only two or three will make the 53-man, regular-season roster.
