SHAMROCK, Texas (KFDA) - Ruben heads to Shamrock and learns how the water tower plays a big part in the town’s history.

Mickey Mitchell, Shamrock City Council member, says the Water Tower Plaza was dedicated in 2009.

Construction on the tower started in 1915 and was completed in 1916.

“It was constructed by Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, which was a company that has erected the majority of water towers in the state of Texas and also in the United States, according to their records,” said Mitchell.

When they were researching the project, Mitchell says they learned 1,260 water towers were constructed in Texas.
