BIG HORN COUNTY, Wyo. — Sheriff's officials in Wyoming are organizing search and rescue operations after a Minnesotan hiker went missing after summitting Cloud Peak.

Grant Gardner, 38, had planned a three-day hike in the Misty Moon Lake area, according to the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post Monday. He contacted his wife on July 29, saying he summited Cloud Peak and it was more difficult than he expected. There have not been any messages from Gardner since then.

Search and rescue teams found Gardner's vehicle in the parking lot near the trailhead where he began the hike. Phone records show that he reached the top of Cloud Peak around 9 p.m. on July 29, which was late enough to concern searchers.
