A 20-year-old man was critically injured Monday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a car in Kalihi, according to Honolulu police.
Police said the crash happened about 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of North King and Kokea streets. The motorcyclist was traveling east on North King at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and struck the side of a car driven by a 58-year-old man, who had an 86-year-old woman as a passenger.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services took the motorcyclist to a hospital in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time, police said.
The driver and his passenger were not injured and remained at the scene.
