Peoria City Council will consider a number of fee increases at their Aug. 5 public meeting.

More specifically, many of these fees fall under engineering and development services, such as site development inspection for local projects and building services, among others.

City officials say the current fees are out of date and do not reflect the true cost of providing associated services.

The fee adjustments would bring them into alignment with council policy 1-12, which states “Fee amounts shall be proportional to the costs associated with providing the service,” according a staff report.

“Inflation in recent years has led to notable misalignment of cost of service to fees collected,” the report said.
