OTHELLO, Wash. -- A new roundabout is being constructed on State Route 26 in Othello.

The Washington State Department of Transportation began construction on the roundabout on Monday. It is located at the intersection of State Route 26 and First Avenue. It is the first of two roundabouts planned for the Othello area this year.

WSDOT says the roundabout will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians while also helping traffic flow.

Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Temporary traffic controls will be in place, even after work hours.

Drivers should plan ahead and allow for extra travel time.

The project is expected to be finished around mid-October.
