The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has authorized a commercial setnet fishing period in the Upper Cook Inlet for Wednesday, August 6. This follows in-season projections showing strong returns of both sockeye and late-run king salmon to the Kenai and Kasilof rivers.
The opening includes the Kenai, Kasilof, and East Foreland sections of the Upper Subdistrict, with staggered start times across six statistical areas: • Ninilchik (244-21) and Cohoe (244-22) will be open from 10:43 a.m. to 6:43 p.m. • South Kalifornsky Beach (244-31) and North Kalifornsky Beach (244-32) will be open from 11:43 a.m. to 7:43 p.m. • Salamantof (244-41) and East Foreland (244-42) will be open from 12:43 p.m. to 8:43 p.m.
