WESTFIELD, Ind. — Westfield police have captured a suspect who police say fired shots at officers during a chase Tuesday afternoon.
Police announced the arrest just before 5 p.m. Aug. 5.
According to police , officers tried to stop a car in the area of U.S. 31 and 196th Street at 1:52 p.m. Police said the driver didn't stop and then crashed the car.
Police said the suspect fired multiple shots at officers after he got out of the car and ran from police.
In addition to Westfield police, Indiana State Police and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies were seen in the area. Officers with rifles are standing around the perimeter.
An Indiana State Police helicopter was also in the area to help with the search.
Police said no officers were injured.
