CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Almost a month after a pedestrian was fatally struck while walking on a sidewalk, a man accused of causing the deadly crash has turned himself in.
On July 5, around 12:50 a.m., detectives from CMPD's North Tryon Division responded to an accident with personal injury call near the 4300 block of North Tryon Street.
When officers arrived, they found Ace Nathaniel Chambers, 74, lying unconscious in the middle of the road and a 2007 Chrysler 300 with heavy damage to the vehicle.
Chambers died at the scene.
