BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — A jury convicted a 22-year-old of murder on Friday in connection to a 2022 shooting that killed a 19-year-old.

Nayquan Unique "Switch" Gadson was found guilty of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was sentenced to life in prison in Beaufort County General Sessions Court.

Gadson was found not guilty of armed robbery.

The victim was 19-year-old Breiner Puerto-Gonzalez, a Colombian immigrant employed by a Hilton Head Island hotel on a work visa.

Puerto-Gonzalez's girlfriend testified in court, identifying Gadson as the man who attacked her boyfriend while on a live video call.
