The Patriots suffered their first major injury of the summer this week, with second-year cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr. suffering a torn ACL.
ESPN's Mike Reiss reported the news on Tuesday afternoon, one day after Dial had been carted off the practice field in Foxboro.

Dial had been getting plenty of run this summer, with Christian Gonzalez suffering a minor hamstring injury and free-agent signee Carlton Davis III making sporadic appearances since the start of camp. Those absences allowed for plenty of playing opportunity for a group that included Dial, Alex Austin, and Marcus Jones.
