KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Jimmy Ray Cureton, the man convicted of murdering Bill Frye in 1990, is up for parole.
Frye was working at Corner Market & Deli on Maryville Pike in 1990 when he refused to sell cigarettes to a few teenagers. Jimmy Ray Cureton, who was 17 at the time, returned a few hours later, and shot and killed him. It took six years for Cureton to be arrested.

The family's legal battle is still ongoing 35 years later. Cureton is now up for parole every two years. So every two years, Dan restarts the process of advocating for Cureton t
